EBPHA is rolling out new Integrated Primary Mental Health & Addictions Services across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. This is a relatively new model of care within the primary mental health and addictions sector. Integrated Primary Mental Health & Addictions Services aim is to provide all New Zealanders experiencing mental distress or addiction challenges, prompt access to convenient, high quality, integrated and person-centred care and support. The model puts mental health and wellbeing at the heart of primary care with focused roles being Health Improvement Practitioners and Health Coaches, all working as part of an integrated team.
Ko wai mātou | About Us
EBPHA is a primary health alliance that delivers a wide range of primary healthcare services across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Our services are provided by 9 General Practices with 27 General Practitioners and 33 Practice Nurses, who serve 29,000 enrolled patients throughout the Eastern Bay of Plenty. It is our role to bring together GPs, nurses, and other health professionals, such as Maori health workers, health promotion workers, dieticians, pharmacists, counsellors, psychologists, and midwives to serve the needs of our community.
Mō te tūnga | The Role
We have two full-time Health Improvement Practitioner positions available to deliver services across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Initially this role is fixed term for two years with the potential to renew after this.
You will be working as a fully integrated member of a general practice team. You will be a key player in delivering brief, evidence-based interventions to members of the community that are immediately accessible, to improve health across the wellbeing continuum. This includes incorporating mental fitness, psychosocial resilience, and physical wellbeing into the provision of care.
Mōu | About you
To be considered, you will be registered with a professional body of your practice. No exceptions here. And will hold:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Clinical experience in a mental health setting
- A good understanding of talking therapies e.g. ACT, focused ACT, SFT
- An understanding of behavioural health and ability to deliver high-quality interventions
- Working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to health care
- Have a strong ability and skills in working with all cultures across the lifespan
- Self-motivation and autonomy and enjoy working as part of a team dedicated to improving tāngata whaiora health and wellbeing
This role will suit if you have held one of the following roles: Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Social Worker, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Psychotherapist, or a DAPAANZ registered Clinician.
