New Chair Hamiora Bowkett visited Whakatāne today and witnessed the COVID-19 resurgence team in full swing.
Yesterdays announcement of 12 new cases in the BOP region, including one positive case in Eastern Bay of Plenty, located in Waimana, prompted a quick responce from the team. A pop-up testing centre was set up at the Waimana Rugby Club rooms, yesterday afternoon until late evening, with a large turnout of the local community passing through the testing site. The local case is self-isolating at home, along with whānau members, and people in the neighbouring vicinity have choosen to self isloate as a precaution.
Today, the EBPHA team have set up a temporary COVID-19 Testing Centre at the Whakatāne War Memorial Hall. At this stage, it will be open today – Thursday 25th, Friday 26th and Saturday 27th November, from 9am to 4pm. If you are a close contact, have visited a location of interest on the same day and time, or you have cold / flu like symptoms, please come down for a free COVID test.
