Eastern Bay Hauora & Health Workforce Development Fund Now Open
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Eastern Bay Hauora & Health Workforce Development Fund. This fund is designed to support and strengthen Hauora, primary and community care workforce in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Supporting the Future of Healthcare in The Eastern Bay
This initiative aims to nurture and develop a skilled and diverse workforce by providing financial support for:
- Awhi and Support: Access to funds to support workers to complete courses/training, such as travel and accommodation costs.
- Postgraduate Study: Health-related postgraduate courses
- Additional Training: Health-related vocational training or courses
- Mentoring: Access to funds to support mentoring for the health workforce
Who is Eligible?
- Kaimahi/Staff working in hauora, primary health provider or community health care in the Eastern Bay of Plenty
- New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents
- Individuals who meet the entry criteria of their chosen education or training provider
- Those not currently receiving substantial funds or scholarships from Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora
Consideration will be given to Allied Health roles intended to be integrated within primary and community care, for example; Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Health Improvement Practitioners, Care Coordinators, Kaiāwhina.
Applications for the Eastern Bay Hauora & Health Workforce Development Fund will open on Thursday, 14 November. Apply through the Eastern Bay Primary Health Alliance website www.ebpha.org.nz/workforce-development
Closing date is Wednesday 11th December. Funding will be allocated in rounds to ensure there are options to support kaimahi/staff throughout 2025. Applications will be reviewed, prioritised, and successful applicants will be contacted directly.
Background
This funding is part of Te Whatu Ora’s Workforce Development for Primary and Community Care. EBPHA, as the fund holder for the Eastern Bay of Plenty CPCT design group, is distributing these limited funds through a contestable process. The aim is to align with the program’s purpose of strengthening primary and community care in the region.
