If you need to see a doctor during a weekend or public holiday head to Te Awe Tieke Hauora, After Hours GP Clinic located in the Outpatients Department of Whakatāne Hospital, entry via Stewart Street.
The GP Clinic will run on weekends and public holidays from 10am - 4pm.
Remember to always phone your GP (doctor) first or visitors can call
0800 306 326.
If the GP Clinic closed, go straight to the Emergency Department.

Emergency Department
Whakatāne ED is located inside the Whakatāne Hospital on Stewart Street and Garaway Street.
If you have a life threatening emergency, dial 111.
Free After Hours Primary Care for Tamariki under 14
If your child is aged 14 years or under, they are eligible for free after hours care. Your child only needs to be enrolled at an Eastern Bay of Plenty General Practice.
After hours care means care and treatment provided outside 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on week days and anytime on weekends and public holidays.
Please be aware that a call out or home visit is different. This will not necessarily be free of charge, given the high cost of providing this service.
